How do I commission a portrait from Hazel Morgan?
Commissioning a portrait is a friendly, collaborative process. Get in touch by email or telephone with UK portrait artist Hazel Morgan and she will discuss your sitter, preferred composition, size and any reference photographs you have. Hazel paints from her studio in Harnham, Salisbury and accepts commissions from clients across the UK and worldwide. There is no obligation at the consultation stage.
Where is Hazel Morgan based?
Hazel paints from a private studio in Harnham, Salisbury, Wiltshire — well placed for sittings with clients in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset, Berkshire, Surrey, the Cotswolds and London. For clients further afield, the entire commission can be conducted by photograph and remote consultation, with the finished oil portrait hand-delivered or carrier-shipped anywhere in the UK.
How long does a portrait commission take?
Most portrait commissions take six to twelve weeks once reference material is agreed. The Christmas season is traditionally Hazel’s busiest period, so for a portrait intended as a Christmas gift it is sensible to book by early summer. For corporate or institutional unveilings, please allow at least six months.
What does a portrait commission cost?
Every portrait is individually priced based on canvas size, the number of sitters and the complexity of the composition. After an initial conversation, Hazel provides a personalised written quotation with no obligation. Please contact the Salisbury studio for a precise quote.
Can Hazel paint from photographs alone?
Yes. The majority of UK portrait commissions Hazel undertakes are worked up entirely from photographs, especially for corporate, posthumous and overseas clients. Hazel will guide you on the type of photographs that produce the best result, and is happy to recommend portrait photographers in the UK if you prefer professional reference shots.
Do you accept live sittings at your Salisbury studio?
Absolutely. Live sittings can be arranged at the Salisbury studio for clients who would like Hazel to paint from life. Typically two to four sittings are needed, supplemented by photographs taken on the day. Travelling sittings at the client’s home or office are also possible by arrangement, particularly for corporate and family commissions.
Where are Hazel's clients based?
Hazel Morgan’s portrait clients are based throughout the UK — with strong followings in London, Surrey, Cheshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, plus a number of overseas clients in Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Every painting is delivered or shipped from her Salisbury, Wiltshire studio.
How is the finished portrait delivered?
Within the UK, finished portraits are usually hand-delivered by Hazel personally or by trusted fine-art courier. International commissions are professionally packed and shipped via specialist art couriers, fully insured for the journey. Framing recommendations and master framers in the UK can also be provided.
